Headlight motors
Im looking to get headlight motors for my Trans Am and my Formula. Both are completely gone on the TA and the passenger side one is starting to go on the Formula. It will only work when its cool out ( Passenger side on Formula). Anyways my question is, where can I get them either in a store and online and if there are a couple of places who has a good price and is reliable. Thanks in advance.

Re: Headlight motors
Are you sure its the motors that are bad? Normally it's just the plastic innards that go bad (cheap replacements available). But if you want to go for the whole motor you can spend ~$90 a piece at Rockauto.com or got to the boneyard and pick up a few (no telling what you'll get). If the motor is turning & the lights are not popping up when you hit the headlight switch, you just need to replace the plastic insides.

I dont remember when it comes to the TA. As for the Formula, yeah the one that is acting up is still spinning. The light will come up half way or sometimes come up the whole way. Where can I get whatever I need to reapair it then? Also is there a guide to fixing them?

Re: Headlight motors
The first time the motor is repaired that is the kit you'd need. What goes bad are the hard gel bushings that GM used inside the gear. Once you've repaired the motor using this kit the weak link is the nylon gear. In the future if you need to repair the headlight motor again that gear would need to be replaced. At that time you have a choice of another nylon gear or an aluminum gear. I sell both.
For those that have the older 3-wire motors (used from 1982-86) you'll use a different kit and repair method.
I sell kits and the parts to repair the 1982-86 three-wire motors, the 1987-92 two-wire motors and the 1993-2002 two-wire motors.
