Hackjob

In my 90 GTA the previous owner absolutely raped the wiring. I noticed tonight the lights for the controls for the Fog lights and rear defrost were intermittently coming on meaning a short somewhere. Also the LED just abov the heater controls does the same thing. The previous owner hacked wires in the console and removed the speakers in the dash for some reason and then underhood shaved the insulation and rigged his own switch for the fan control which consists of an alligator clip to an ethernet cable which runs into the car to a toggle switch. So as it stands those lights don't always light up for my controls, my power mirrors on the passenger side don;t work, all my indicator lights on the gauges don't come on, my fan is rigged very badly, my power door locks will unlock but not lock, and I have sound only in my back pillars where he rigged some speakers mounted on wood mounted in the pillars. So any common pointers or tips anyone can give on where to start or what to do would be greatly appreciated. Oh and also he swapped the 3.42 for 2.92 so now it redlines at like 3500 or 4000 rpm and the speedo was not calibrated so when I am doing 110 km/h it reads 140 so in turn my odometer says a lot more than what is actually on the car. Thanks for letting me vent and please please please give me ideas or tips about all of this. I plan on starting with the fan switch.

Re: Hackjob

Ethernet wire .. sorry I LOL on that part.

I feel your pain man. Its good that we can get good deals on certain cars but the bad part is when we have to fix what they screwed up. With that being said YOU have to figure out "WHY" did they cut this wire and splice this wire here and there. Its a PAIN in the @%^ !! Just tackle one of your problems one at a time. Get a test light and figure stuff out. Sorry I cant help much.
