melted wires --- how to reconnect (pics)
posted this on the cooling board, but no luck. Did a ton of searches too.
i have 86 LG4 camaro with A/C. These wires were all connected by plastic housings that snapped together. Somehow the plastic melted. Now, i don't know which wires to reconnect. Don't think the colors all match (can't remember).
Anyone have a good pic on this connector or know which color wires go together?
thanks!

Re: melted wires --- how to reconnect (pics)
the colors should all match (unless burned and now are brown/charcoal).
those wires typically have a high current for the fan motor, and are not weatherproof, other than some nasty black grease, so over time, they corrode, and get higher resistance, causing even more heat, causing the connector to melt.
there are usually 3-5 wires in that bundle, depending on the year. I know for a fact that there are a red, black(maybe striped with something), and dark green. I beleive some models also have a light green and sometimes a tan or brown. I think sometimes, there are even a couple of black wires tied together on one crimp.
you'll need to pull the wires out of the looming a little bit to see if they are burned out very far, or just where they are taped.
the red is IGN to run the fan, the black is a ground, and the dark green is the AC clutch signal. the other added wires effect the AC I believe. A schematic for your year car will give you more details.
you can buy a new connector, or just use bullet connectors, or if you wanted, even just splice them together. they should pretty much go color to color (red to red, etc). I'd find a schematic first and just double check. they will be in the heater motor and AC schematic pages, and will all probably so a connector with the same name (Cxx) or whatever
