Speedometer, gas gauge, & fuses
Speedometer, gas gauge, & fuses
1984 Chevy Camaro, v8, 5.0L. I bought the car a few months and and I'm trying to get it back on the road. I found out that the speedometer and the gas gauge (at least) do not work. It also looks like some fuses are missing as well (potentially). I'm not sure if the 2 problems are connected. I took a picture of the fuse box in hopes of getting some help.

as for your electronic gauges IE- the rest of the gauges.
are they just flat out not working?
what happens when you turn on the headlights?
what are the lights doing behind the gauges at night?
any other info that may be usefull?
if they are for the most part working without the headlights on, and die or max themselfs out with the headlights on, then you need to take your gauge cluster out and check/clean the contacts on the back and when installing it back in, make sure they seat firmly together, one thing i found that worked nicely is sticking washers behind the connectors on the dash and tightening the cluster in as tight as it would go without damage.
as for the fuse box, that would be a good idea to check as well, but remeber that there are going to be a few open places for add on accesories that can be added into it.
definitely keep this thread updated, ill give you all the advice/help i possibly can
EDIT: if you can get that picture up, i can give a little more insight, would definitely help

Re: Speedometer, gas gauge, & fuses
Unfortunately, I don't know how to and can't find instructions on how to put a photo on this web page, so I stuck it on Flickr. I hope it works.
Also, turns out that the speedometer works, the gas gauge potentially doesn't work (since it was sitting for so long the gas might have evaporated), and there's an added tachometer thing that lights up when I turn the lights on but doesn't function more than that...probably because there's a red wire and a black wire not connected to anything.
