Transmission: Manual
Axle/Gears: Stock Limited Slip
No Power to car at all

my car is a 1987 pontiac trans am gta i recently removed the ac system and condenser and i plugged up the hole in the firewall with sheet metal. one of the purple wires(+) grounded and the car was running when it was on i lost all power. no done lights nothing all fuses under dash are good. i cut out all the fuseable links to the starter and still nothing i replaced the starter selenoid still nothing.my battery is a optima red top that's fully charged if i hook up my battery charger to the 2 cables for the starter and ground it i have power i have no idea where to look i also check the fuse on the positive battery cable and its good a replaced that fuseable link too. i have no idea where else to look. any help is greatly appreciated

Run that part about hooking up your charger to the starter past me again. You did that and then you had power? Or were you testing the starter out of the car? And the purple wire that shorted out was for what? Ignition switch maybe?
You have cleaned your battery terminals right. I know it sounds dumb but do it anyway.

i hook up my battery charger directly to the positive cables on the starter and placed the ground on the chassis and it restored power to my whole car. i believe the short is somewhere between the cables going from the starter to the battery. i am wondering where all the fuseable links are . i cleaned my terminals also the purple wire goes to the blower assembly and the starter selenoid

There is a ground strap that runs from the rear of the engine block by the heater case to the firewall. Is that hooked up? Also just to check, run a jumper cable from the engine ground to the chassis ground to make sure you have a good ground between them.

well i traced down the harness and found a crispy wire (+) grounding out i hooked the battery back up and now everything seems fine i gotta put the starter back in place and see if she will fire up but all looks good
