Slow blinkers and Windows. Weak door locks
Hi guys: I’m new to the sight and forums here but I will do my best.
THE HISTORY: I have a 1986 Trans AM 305 5.0L TPI with Automatic 4 speed transmission. The car sat for about 4 to 6 years without even being turned over. The car has 209,000 miles on it and is in great shape. I’m the second owner and the car has always been garaged or under a car cover. There was a new motor put in 12-29-1995, at the time the car had 151,313 miles. I want to sell the car so I need to fix this problem.
THE PROBLEM: The blinkers are slow and the windows are slow as well. The door locks will unlock using the electric lock switch but won’t lock. They lock most of the way just not completely. They look locked but you can still open the doors. Now there has been 2 or 3 times now while driving the car that I notice the blinkers flashing faster, not like they should but none the less faster. When this happened I noticed the door locks worked and the windows where faster as well. This didn’t last long for all is slow again.
THINGS TO KNOW: I have put in a new flasher. The Alternator and battery are new as well. Everything works and the car has never been damaged or crashed and almost every part ever replaced has been replaced with a OEM part and not aftermarket, even the new Engine is a AC DELCO OEM Remanufacture by GM. The car sat for 4 to 6 years and had a charged battery in it when parked but had to be replaced after taking the car from storage and finding it dead and not able to save.
Thank you for your help guys and let me know if you need more information.

Re: Slow blinkers and Windows. Weak door locks
bad grounds
weak power from fusible link
I have ran new power lines to the fuse block and had some good results but from what I hear it sounds like the grounds are a little off. My old pontiac Fiero had the slowest windows in the world till I hyper grounded my engine bay and cleaned all the grounds on the interior. These are old cars and the simple metal/metal conections will deteriorate and cause things that your are experiencing.

Great advice. I forgot to mention in me first post that someone had made this recommendation about bad grounds. I have taken off the Engine ground cleaned, resurfaced and reattached it. I also did the same with the firewall to Engine ground and the battery to frame ground.
I'm interested in the "weak fusible link" theory. Do you know where I would start?

You start at the starter. That's where the (2-3) power feed wires are attached, and the fusible links are on those wires close to the starter.
One feeds the lighting circuits mainly, and the other feeds the ignition circuits.

Also check the ground on the passenger side front it should be right behind the headlamp on the inside of the engine compartment. Make sure the bolt is tight as well. This is the ground for the headlamps and the Fan Relay. Mine was loose and would cause the lights to be dim untill I hit a bump. Fog lamp and headlamp would flash when I used my turnsignal as well.

There are no fusible links in a Trans Am on the passenger side except down at the starter. The other one is on the drivers side and it is for the Cooling fan and attaches to the positive cable.
