Dyno?

I did try a search...

Can anyone tell me what kind of engine TEMPERATURE readings a dyno can pull?

I assume it is a lot more than just the dash water temp right?

Thanks in advance

Re: Dyno?

What are you asking? The engine doesn't get any hotter on a dyno than it does in normal service.

Re: Dyno?

I mean, does the ECU track more than just the engine temp gauge we see on the dash? Or does it have feeds from additional temp sensors?

(I am assuming that for them to be useful at all you'd wanna read them on a dyno to simulate driving activity)

Re: Dyno?

The coolant temperature sensor for the ECM is a completely different circuit from the gauge sender. You don't need a temperature reading much higher than gauge's upper limit though, that's about the point that pressurized coolant starts boiling.

Re: Dyno?

And there is yet another coolant sensor for the fan relay, which the computer does see but does not use for engine management.
