Crazy Blinking DVM...Alternator Magnetic Field???

This is very strange and each individual I have spoken with about the issue is pretty much clueless.

My DVM will blink like crazy when my car is running. It will blink say 19.x for just a split second then 2.x then 14.x ten 7.x get the idea?
Its driving me mad and has to stem from the alternator since it only does it with the car running. I have tried two seemingly good alternators (tested at AutoZone) to no avail.

Heres the kicker. It will do it without the DVM actually touching anything!!! When placed over the engine compartment it will do this and when just outside the compartment it stops?!

It does not do this with any other vehicle and the battery is good in the DVM. Is this possibly a wiring issue I am not aware of? 1991 Camaro.

I THINK, THEREFORE I BLINK

Possibly the ignition is causing that.

On my dirt car we’re using solid core wires and plugs.

Therefore when taking voltage measurements we use an analog meter.

Nice caption

I think so too now, however, don't know if there is a way to combat the problem or deal with it.

Its a large cap generic HEI dizzy
MSD Superconductor wires
NGK resistor plugs
My MSD 6AL is awaiting hookup until I can sort all of the other bugs out.

Will this cause some crazy feedback in my stereo as well??

THE SPARKS! MUSICAL GROUP OR IGNITION?

If you maintain resistor plugs and suppression wires your stereo will be OK.
