Hatch Release with 5 speed

I converted my car from an automatic to a 5 speed and now the hatch release wont work. I know that one way to do it is to splice it into the parking brake wiring some how, but exactly how do I do this? I need to know exactly what wires need to go where. Thanks.

Re: Hatch Release with 5 speed

There's a switch attached to the base of the park brake handle that routes a ground to the dash brake light. My hatch won't open from the console unless that ground is present. The switch part number is 12506876

Re: Hatch Release with 5 speed

The "safety feature" that will only allow the hatch to open is different on a automatic and a stadanrd tranny car. Open in PARK for auto or open when E-Brake is up in a manual.

Here is a diagram showing how each system is wired. You should be able to work it out by looking at his diagram.

Re: Hatch Release with 5 speed

So I take it I would have to splice the yellow wire from the hatch release relay into the wire to the parking brake switch right?

HATCHING AN IDEA

No not from the RELAY.

You want the hatch release SWITCH to go thru the P.brake switch.
