Tach issue 91 Z
When i bought the car the tach wasnt working, well today i checked it out and found that it was a bad pin behind the cluster. So now its working but idling its reading about 3,000 rpms. Im not sure if someone put a v6 cluster in or what. And I know the tach signal is correct because i checked it with my multimeter and its reading about 1000 rpms idling. Im going to be doing an lsx swap over the winter, my question is should i even mess with the tach with the tpi in it now or just wait until i do the lsx? Im just afraid that the tach might be innacurate internally and if i dont get it straightened out now its never gonna be correct.

Re: Tach issue 91 Z
Howdy,
you sure aren't the first one with a bad Chevy tachometer. (Thank you, GM!)
Joint the club, there are thousands of us!
Fortunatelly, there is a way to fix it, without having to buy the whole cluster: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...meter-fix.html
If you're not comfortable with fixing it, PM me and I can do it for ya.
Hope this helps.
