tachometer question

I brought a 5in Autogage Tach with external shift light today... Well you set the shift light rpm by dailing a **** before starting the car. My problem is the shift light work fine after you set it and drive. But when you cut the car off and then turn the key back to the on position. The shift light rpm has changed. Am I going to have to set this shift light everytime I go to drive the car... The wiring is hooked up the way the diagram says. Except it said to hook the black wire to the battery... I got it ground to the metal bracing for the dash.... But that shouldn't make a different.

Re: tachometer question

Well, it only changes shift light rpm when driving. So I think the vibes from driving the car is moving the ****. Which the car isn't what I call smooth. Plus the **** is about 1 to 1 ratio with the tach so the **** doesn't have to move much to change shift light rpm by the hundreds. So tommarrow Im goin to lock the **** in place somehow at the desired rpm. And thats should do it I think.
