dash light problem?? please help
i have a 87 iroc-z 5.7 tpi auto all stock when i turn my headlights on my gauges go off the chart well just the tach, volts,and oil. if i turn the dash lights off then everything goes back to normal except i have no dash lights?? i have replaced the headlight switch thinking this was the problem but it changed nothing im lost please any help

i got the same problem with my 85 iroc except my right turn signal light comes on also??? ive replaced the cluster assembly and light switch but it didnt change anything. ima start tracing back wires really soon so ill let u kno if i find anything.

sounds like you may need a new gauge pack, they are pretty cheap on e-bay, look on here also.

cant get them new, just make sure you get one that has been tested, if its going on a 89 or older get the cheap 85 MPH speedo and just swap your higher speedo out in it, as long as you use the board and housing from the other gauge you should be ok
but i woluld like to see someone second my idea, i think that should fix it but not 100% sure
you can get an 80mph one for prob somewhere around 20

Did you ever find out the problem with your gauges mine are doing the same exact thing as yours i just boaght my car and do not know how to fix. if you did please let me know and if i find anything out i will be sure to post it on here for everyone so please lets help eachother.

I have been working on my car for along time trying to figure out the problem, a guy posted another message up about the same problem and someone sent him a picture of the gauge cluster witch had been modified with a ground comeing from the right turn signal to any ground point i tried evrything finally i tried this and i took a wire from the right turn signal and grounded it to the bottom of my steering column and everything works great no problems. I will try posting a picture here soon good luck.
