Computer Removal questions
Computer Removal questions
Hello, I have a 86 TA. I recently had a carburated 350 dropped in.
I would like to fully remove the computer, when i removed it, it ran like crap backfireing and what not. I was wondering what all it could be hooked up to. Its not hooked to the motor in any way. I was wondering if timing maybe? Also if i got an msd ignition system would that fix? PLZ HELP!

IT's ABOUT TIME !
.
.
The ECM controls timing (VIA other parts) .
If you want a comp free car you will have to find another way to control timing.
There are several MSDs available.
Some are capable of controlling timing.

If People Drove Any Slower Theyd Be Going Backwards.

Re: Computer Removal questions
My TA's previous owner took out the computer and put in a vacuum advance. It backfired until I plugged a particular intake that shouldn't have been open. It just means your fuel/air mixture is off. Put in the vacuum advance, have your timing, and choke set, and you should be fine.
