Is this normal? or a problem?? URGH!
i bought this car in december. im still working on it so its not a daily driver just yet. normally just drive it around the block or up the street and back. so i havent been driving it a lot obviously, but whenever i start it (in cold weather) it starts right up but runs very rough. bogs in and out like the timing is off then after about 10 seconds of crappy running it acts like the choke kicked on or somthing and it raises rpms and runs smooth. if i run it for about 5 mins or so and turn it off and try to turn it back on i have to feather the throttle to keep it running or it will die. im really confused. after about 30 seconds of feathering the throttle it runs fine. is this a problem or is the motor just cold??

when i keep it in the garage overnight with the heat on all night (50 degree weather) it starts fine. in cold weather though it just idles really high to keep it running and when you put it in gear it shoots off like your stomping the gas or something. it only does it 85% of the time though.

think it could be a sensor? like the tps or something??/

It sounds like a carb motor with a 'slow acting' electric Choke. It might not have a working choke, a manual choke, or a Choke at all...... If i's a carb than open the hood and look on the Pass side of the Carb to see how the choke "acts" the next time you start the car.
If it's TBI than any number of ECM sensors could cause an erratic idle - particularly at start-up.

yeah its TBI. the check engine light is always on, so could i go up and get the codes checked? like i said earlier this isnt the stock engine so idk if the check engine light is on cause of a problem or the dumbass before me didnt hook up one of the wires right or somehting.

Getting the codes checked will point you to any sensors that are dead or that were not re-connected after the swap. Since It's TBI I can only assume that it still needs the ECM in order to run properly - so that's your best place to start searching for trouble !

why go have the codes pulled? just jumper ports A & B on the ALDL then turn the ignition to 'run' and the check engine light will flash you the numbers in morse code.

i was just gonna take it to autozone cause i dont know what all he codes mean, i never had a list of the codes or anything. never learned how to read them. i hate that computer crap, wish the car was just an old carbuarted car like the first and second gens.
anybody know where i can get the codes and how to read them and what they mean?
