Indicating year, make and model of your car is helpful. For example, 82-89 Camaros have cable-driven speedos, 90-92 electronic. Firebirds were cable from 82-85 or so, 86+ electric.

Re: spedo and tach not working ?

Check the bottom of your distributor, and see if the plugs are loose, that is where you get the signal for your tach from.....

The signal for your speedo comes from your ECM...not sure yet how to check that without a handheld scanner....

Re: spedo and tach not working ?

The most common problem for the speedo seems to be the VSS. Check the tail shaft of the trans for it. A search will provide other possibilties.
