87 firebird headlights not working plz help

Id appreciate it alot if anyone could help me with this cause ive searched so much over the net for so many days and i cant seem to figure out what it is..Well ive had it for a good couple months now and the lights have always flipped up and worked perfect but..oneday i went to pickup my friend at night so i turned them on everything came on fine..When i got home i noticed that the lights were out, the light doors were still up..and when i tried to flick them down..they stayed..and it hasnt worked since..Id be ok with manually turning the ***** to lower and higher the doors..but..theres no point since the lights wont even come on at all anymore..my blinkers tailights and all other lights except the interior work fine..if you guys would help me figure this out id be soo gratefull you have no idea..i read that there are three small pucks (bushings) inside the headlight door motor..and that they turn to sand and degrade after many years.. if this were the case..wouldnt just the doors not be able to flip up or down but the lights would still turn on (have light come out of them) or no? Thanks.

If they no longer go up and down or come on I'd suspect the switch. I believe the circuits are seperate so the common part is the switch. You have checked all the fuses right? And yes the lights should come on weather they pop up or not.

I had it where one of might lights did not pop up, it happened to my relay for the headlight. What sounds like is wrong with your car is a fuse.

thanks! yeah i was thinking it might be a fuse too..i tried to check them all but.. apparently the headlight is controlled by a circuit breaker inside the light switch the manual says.. what does that mean its permanently tripped and i have to replace it? also.. i found a schematic on this site and it said somewhere there are two fusable links behind the headlights or something but i cant find them if they are there.. where could the fuse be?

If the circuit breaker trips it will reset itself when it cools down ... if it's working properly.
A fusable link looks like a regular wire but will burn out inside the insulation. When it's burned out it will stretch when you pull on it.
