Backup lights stay on

...and its not the switch. I disconnect the wires to the switch and the lights are still on. Where and whats should I try to troubleshoot next?

Sure you got the right switch? A real steep fine in these parts for having white lights on the rear of a vehicle. Take out the bulbs if nothing else.

The switch is only 5 years old and it worked fine ever since. I had to replace it then because I had no back up lights. But with the switch disconnected, there should be no lights. I can't figure out when the car is on, they stay on.

Re: Backup lights stay on

first make sure its the right switch. the only thing it really could be is the switch sticking. or possibly the wiring is shorting/touching another hot wire.

The switched worked fine before. Even when I disconnected it from the switch the lights are still on.

What are the wire colors on your switch?
Do you have a test light or a voltmeter?
