RPM Gauge on TPI
Ok i searched for this and only kept finding a fix for the 90-92 or the carb camaros only. I have the seperate coil so im not sure where the rpm wire is but i checked all the wires and they are all plugged in. Now here is the problem, on my 87 the needle goes all the way up and stays there and back down when off. And on the 89 the leedle goes to about 6500rpms and goes up a little tiny bit when revved, even when the turn signals are on too lol. What can be the problem? Or how can i solve it?

The tach wire should be between the distributor and coil.
It might be labled TACH TERM.
Re your tach reading high your problem is in the circuit inside the dash that moves the pointer.
It’s contained on a small plug-in PCB.
On the PCB you’ll see a resistor chip.
Desolder pins 4 & 10.
Use a 500K potentiometer.
Solder it across traces 4 & 10.
Move the potentiometer to half way.
Start the engine and compare the tach reading with a test equipment quality tach.
Dial it in, unsolder one side of the potentiometer, measure it and buy the matching resistor.
Happy Racing!
