Re: water temp guage hook up?

How can I test if the gauge is working? My engines always ran on the cool side and takes alot of time to warm up thats why I don't want to test by idling it. My radiator fans are not kicking on thats why my concern is the temp I think the fans are worn out the battery polarity's were reversed shorted out my icm and ecm so I replaced those and everything else seems to work inside.

That's the temperature switch for the fans, NOT the gauge.

The gauge sensor is in the driver side head, between the first two spark plugs. Same spot in the head, but different head.

You can troubleshoot the gauge by disconnecting the green wire and verifying that the gauge reads full cold, then shorting the wire to ground and verifying that the gauge reads full hot.

Hope this helps.

so if you run a ground wire to the green wire on the temp gauge it should read full hot ?
