Cluster Problems
Just curious if anyone has had this problem on their camaros or trucks. I know this is a Camaro Forum but we've had the biggest problem with this vehicle and its around the same year (a 1992). I have a Chevy 2500 and with a 5-speed and I had to rebuild the tranny because the 3rd and 5th gears were eaten up. After this happened the speedometer, cruise control, odometer/trip odometer, do not work 95% of the time. They only continue to work during the cold months but as the vehicle heats up the speedometer begins to jump up and down and ends up stopping. After it quits the emergency brake light comes on (although it is not engaged) and the "check engine light comes on". I have replaced the speed sensor, gotten the cluster checked professionally, and changed DRAC in the glove box.
Once again I know this has nothing to do with Camaros but thought that maybe someone has had this problem with their camaro or some of you may have a pick-up like this with this problem. If nobody knows.. does anyone know of a Chevy Pick-up forum out there?
Thanks guys

Re: Cluster Problems
You say you replaced the speed sensor. How did the gears on it look? This sounds very much like the plastic gears in the tranny tailhousing are not meshing right (or are missing teeth), causing the VSS to send erratic pulses to the ECM, speedometer and cruise control.
