electronic speed sensor thing.. need help from the professionals!

im gonna put a 4th gen dash in my car and its going into an 88. which means i need to make an electrical speedo work with my mechanical set up. i have a 700r4 tranny and where the speedo cable connects to the tranny is a 3/4" set up. how do i make this work? i know i need an electronical speed sensor type of thing, but what cars had these? i know a couple cars had the 1 1/2" or 1 1/4" (cant remember which) speed sensor. but did any cars have the 3/4"??

thanks guys.

I dont know anything about 4th gen dashes, but a VSS from a 4th gen with a 4L60E should fit just fine in your 700R4.

Actually no because the VSS in a 4th gen goes into the computer, then to the speedo. You'll need some kind of converter box.

Search for Dakota Digital, they have the converter box. I think the model number is SGI-5.
