Need help getting my backup lights working

Need help getting my backup lights working

Just got a 87 camaro,when i got it the guy said it did not have no backup lights so he wierd it up to a swicth on the dash,so how can i fix it so i can put the tranny in reverse and have my lights come on and not have to swicth the toggle swicth.Thanks

It would help to give us a little more information about your car.

For automatics, the reverse light switch is in the center console, on the shifter switch. It's the blue and green wire, the two middle wires.

For manuals, the switch is on the transmission itself. A 2-prong plug on the driver side of the case.

The lights are powered from the TURN B/U fuse. If your turn signals work, that fuse is good.
