Interior Light

I got some white LED strips at my work and tried hooking them up to my interior lights. But here is the thing there are two wires going to the driver and the passenger curtisee lights one is orange and the other one is white. The orange is an always hot and the white goes to the door switch to turn the light on and off. When I hooked the wire into the orange wire the always hot wire it stayed on all the time. When I tied it into the white wire the LED's turned on when the doors were closed but when they were open they turned off. Any help??? *

Re: Interior Light

You need to hook on side of the LED to the orange wire and the other side to the white wire. That way the LEDs are in series with the switches. It sounds as if you have on side grounded.

Also make sure that your light switch is rotated fully counter clockwise (OFF position). Otherwise the light will be light when the doors are closed. Note that either the light switch or the door switches can turn the courtesy lights on.

You mention hooking one wire to either the orange or the white wire. Where are you connecting the other wire on the LEDs to?

Re: Interior Light

I just hooked the ground wire to a bolt just to test to see if it worked. I haven't actually placed it in place. So should I hook up the ground wire for the LED's to the white wire which runs to the switch for the door and the power wire to the orange wire that is always hot? Thanks for the help
