In my quest to figure out why my brake lights are stuck on, I checked a few things. The brake light switch is good, but when I checked the brake light harness with my volt meter there was nothing there. When I pull the fuse for the brake lights it does kill the lights, so that kind of confuses me. My question is should there be power to the brake light harness?

When the brake lights are on,you should have power at the harness for them(the brake switch provides this power)Originally Posted by GM Man

How did you go about checking the switch?
Is it adjusted correctly? meaning, does the trigger on the switch get depressed when you take your foot off the pedal?
I pulled the switch out, and tested it with my volt meter. When it closed the meter rang out a tone.. I have tried to depress the button on the switch and hold it in to simulate the brakes being off, but the lights just stay on, no matter what I do..
