Neutral Safety Switch never works!

You know how most people have problems with there neutral safety switch preventing them from starting there car? Well mine does not work in the sense that, if the car is in gear or the switch is unpluged the car will start up. The reverese lights work though when it is shifted into reverse. The car started as an automatic, but i put a t56 in it. Before i re-wired all the related stuff for the swap, i wanted to make sure that everything was working correctly. Any Ideas would be aprecieated.

Thanks

Re: Neutral Safety Switch never works!

Is it possible that the PO did some wire hacking in the starting circuit?

Especially the diagrams.

I realize that your car DOES start but the diagrams still apply. That way you can find where the harness has been hacked (if).

Hope this helps.

Did you have to remove the console to remove the neutral safety switch? My problem is the reverse light wont stay on. It's hard to take out unless I think I remove the console.

Anything is possible, underneath the dash looks pretty clean as far as not being hacked, but the car is 20 years old so anything is possible. It is almost like the Neutral Safety switch has been by passed.
