Starter Solenoid Help!!
Sooooo embarrassed! Just finished putting a new oil pan gasket in my 85 IROC 305 TPI and can't remember for the life of me where the leads go on the starter solenoid. Thought I had it, but it won't start. Have plenty of power and a new solenoid. Car was running before this quest. Jumped the starter and the solenoid spins. Won't start with key in ignition. 3 wires, 1 from battery and 2 red coming down between firewall and motor.

Re: Starter Solenoid Help!!
The starting wire from the "key" is purple and probably comes down the passenger side by itself, in its own sleeve. If it's not connected to the small post on the solenoid, the car won't start by turning the key.
Hope this helps.

Thanx Lou,
I'll check for it when I get home in a few days. Hopefully I tucked it out of the way and forgot about while I was working on it. Thanx again!!

Re: Starter Solenoid Help!!
Okay since you have a 1985 its a yellow wire. Trust me. B/c i just pulled mine apart to get to the ignition switch. Then it goes in the ignition switch and runs out to the nuetral safety switch then it converts to purple wire to the selonoid. and yes it won't start if thats not connected However if you find it and don't connect it will most likely be the starter switch. which is located above the steering column next to the dimmer switch. if u ever replaced the dimmer switch the same bolts hold the ignition switch in. and if not tight will cause a short over time and burn like mine did. DOH! lol so good luck hope you missed the wire by chance.
