LOCATION OF STARTER SWITCH NEED ASAP

Okay. this is my problem. i have a new starter and new batt. turn over the key and nothing there was smoke under the dash. when the car was running i turned off and when i did that and tried to turn over it won't start. i checked everything fuse and all. i am thinking its the starter switch. where is that located is it in the steering column or outside the steering column????? please just tell me where its located much appreciated.

It should be about 1/3 of the way down the column (Mounted to the column basically under the guages). I've had two different Sport Coupes and on both I had to loosen the column to drop it low enough to get to the starter switch.

And since i knew my starter was bad would it give it to much current to make that actually fail? b/c it smoked numerous times this time it failed.

Not sure about the starter causing the smoke but on my 87 SC it smoked 6 times before it died!! All I did was change the switch out and it worked for the next 30,000 miles before I sold it to a friend. Her B/F totalled it two weeks later!! *jerk* I loved that car, but sold it to her cuz of some bad memories! lol

yea starter wasn't smoking but the under the dash was and couldn't find the smoke coming from figured it was in the column. was it easy to fix. yea i am not selling mine lol. i am keeping this even if it costs me in the long run.
