Another Temp Gauge ? Sorry

After reading thru 100+ temp gauge threads I still need an answer

Temp gauge sits a min untll I plug the sender on the block in then it pegs to max, unplug it it goes back to min is there a problem with the sender, gauge, or wireing?

Thanks, Tim

Unplug the sending unit and see what the gauge does.....Then replace the sending unit. They are not that expensive from your favorite auto parts store.

If it pegs to max when you put the wire on the sender, the odds are very high that it's a shorted/bad sender unit.

If you want to troubleshoot it more before replacing it, you'll need a multimeter to measure the resistance of the sender. Let me know if you'd like to try that.

Hope this helps.

Mine does the same thing all i did to fix it. was put a new gauge in since the sensor is not cheap its 90 dollars compared to the 30 dollar mechanical water temp. But yes it could be a short or a bad sensor.
