squeaky speedo
my speedometer started squeaking all of a sudden.
as i am driving, when i hit 25 mph, it starts squeaking rhythmically, regardless of vehicle speed or engine speed.
it continues from 25 mph to over 70 mph.
under 25 it is silent, and starts abruptly at 25.
the squeaks sound like, well, squeaks, and happen at about 2-3 times per second.
like i said, its very consistent, and does not vary at all with vehicle or engine speed.
it started a few days ago with no warning of any kind.
i took the plastic plate off the gauges, and found that there is a noticeable pulse in the speedometer. it varies about 2 mph up and down in rhythm with the squeaks, and if i put my finger on the speedometer, the squeaking stops, and i feel it pulsing.
its pretty loud, and i can hear it over the radio (turned to 40) and the road noise and wind noise with the windows down on the highway.
help me.
i think i may go crazy.
i have to drive 30 minutes every day to work in this racket lol.

Re: squeaky speedo
I'd lubricate the speedometer internals with sillicone or some other good lubricant (NOT wd-40). I'd also spray some down the cable and let it penetrate with gravity.
Hope this helps.
