fuse blew and keeps blowing

Fired up the car again today and was going to take the T-tops off and go for short cruise.

Press the hatch release, nothing. I notice the pw antenna did not come up....p. mirrors are not working..

Check the fuse..it blew. Popped another one in..blew.

Now I recently had the pw antenna replaced. If a power wire came off could it be shorting the fuse out??

I once replaced the power antenna and the longer wiring caught in the door hinge and popped the old fuse.

Yes. If the power wire to the antenna is loose and touching ground, it will blow the fuse.

If the power mirrors and hatch release are on the same circuit, that would explain why they don't work as well.

The obvious aside, is there a chance the antenna motor is bad? Was it a used unit? Did it sound bad when it operated? Any chance the aerial could be binding?

Unless someone just ran wires to your antenna motor (bypassing the connector provided) the power wire is probably still attached.

ok thanks. No it's brand new antenna. Back it goes to the shop for free fix.

I have had problems with my cars battery too---not sure if its related. It is 9 years old---but it sure went down hill fast!

A nine year old battery? I'd say you got your money's worth!

Probably not related though.

I'd check the cig lighter aswell, if not check the upper console (if applicable) or the dome light...anything that might be close to exposed metal...
