volt light question
alright... i have an 84 camaro, 5.7 my voltage light started coming in faintly occasionally and sometimes would come on enough to make my choke light come on and it would kind of buzz. Off and on this would happen. I had my alternator and battery and everything like that tested by a parts store and my mechanic. Both test came up good. It got a little worse and then randomly went away for a week or longer. About a week ago the voltage light and choke light came on and have been on full blast non stop the entire time. and now my car seems to be taking a very long time to idle down, not sure if its linked to the volt/choke issue. But tonight as i was driving my radio shut off and instrument panel went dim headlights faded and my car started backfiring if i gave it too much gas. I assume it was due to obvious low voltages. Does anyone know if my voltage regulator was on its way to failure and just passed the tests or what. Im gonna try a new alternator in the morning unless anyone has another idea. sorry for the long post but thanks for any help
