89 Rear hatch automatic pull down wiring
Before I bought my 89, the electric hatch pull down motor broke, and instead of fixing it, the previous owner put a few screws through the sliders.
I drilled out the screws (which had the heads torqued off) and fixed the plastic motor mount with some epoxy and a few other things. All the mechanical aspects appear to work, along with the motor itself.
I think he tried to rewire it so the light would still come on.... and failed. It's a mess back there.
As far as I can tell, it goes through the 15amp fuze labled "lid."
The Haine's manual has some electrical stuff, but not this system.
If someone could take a picture of theirs and post it, that would be great. So I could have a reference for where to re-splice the wires.
thanks

No one?
Okay, does anyone have one to sell? Parting out a car, or have one sitting in a box somewhere? Or maybe a wiring diagram?

I can't find the diagram anymore but you can find these at Top-DownSolutions.com, Hawks Thirdgen or on ebay.

Those rear hatch links are decent for showing what pieces are involved and what a hatch assembly should look like, but PLEASE don't accept those prices. 275-300 range is absurd. I shopped on ebay for a long time and kept getting outbid up to around 137 and that's still way less. I eventually found one from a different online seller for 61 dollars (full assembly).
Unfortunately when i installed it, I learned that not only was the old motor bad (i pulled and tested it... confusing mess that was) but the switch in the console was connected to nothing at all and the only loose clip under there doesn't match to to it so that's what I'm figuring out right now.
Good luck!!! That rear hatch can be a drag when it's not working right and you don't like it it bumping around when you drive

NO LUCK! I've got a metal bar I fabbed up in there right now. I completely rewired the thing up to a remote, which I stuck in my Dash, which would have been AWESOME if my motor mount didnt decentigrate into a thousand pieces.
So im looking for a motor mount. And/or looking into the feisability of fixing it with a fiberglass repair kit or something.

Dang, that sucks. I just created new wiring to the switch in the console and i tested it out and it seemed to be fine. So I reinstalled the the motor and I'm getting no response again. It's a nitpicky little unit!
