VATS Questions
First let me say hello since I am new to the forums.
Some background info:
1983 Camaro Z/28, 1987 IROC 5.0l TPI Engine, Aftermarket TPI Wiring harness, Engine converted from MAF to 90-92 Speed Density system, ECM #1227730 EPROM #16163139
Since the body is a 1983, I have no wiring from the ignition cylinder for VATS, I have no wiring coming from the door lock cylinders for VATS, I have no VATS module or any other wiring. I know the stock EPROM comes with the VATS enabled. I am going to double check the wiring harness, but if I remember right from when I put it in, there is no wiring for the VATS.
Questions:
1. If the ECM/EPROM has nothing to communicate to or from, is the VATS a factor? I hate to have to buy all kinds of stuff just to bypass the VATS (I'm on a tight budget here).
2. Do I need to have the stock Eprom reprogrammed to have the VATS disabled to avoid all the problems with VATS?
3. If there is no associated wiring for the wiring, can I just ground the starter enable relay and not have to worry about the VATS on the eprom?
I would really like to know before I plug in a 210 dollar eprom and try to start the car and possibly damage the eprom.
Thanks for your time and input on this
Quick update: I double checked the TPI harness, the 32 pin green ecm connector has no wiring for the VATS (GF10) is empty.

Re: VATS Questions
You should be able to tune out the VATS. I'm running a Caprice Cop chip and the VATS is disabled. Guess the Cops are too worried about somebody stealing their car.
