Keep blowing fuse

I haven't had my car for long and I quickly discovered that I have no dome light, power locks, or horn. I replaced the fuse and it worked great for a while. One day I was standing next to the car without it running, doors closed and nothing on, and I hear a popping noise. It sounded like a fuse popping and that turned out to be what it was. Does anyone know where the common places for shorts on these are on that circuit? My rear hatch light is unplugged. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When i would plug in my GPS it would short out that circuit IIRC. Turned out there was a short in the lighter socket itself. That would only short out if your plugging anything into there though.

OK Thanks. I know my cig lighter does not work so maybe there is an issue there.

Yea, mine would blow every time i put my GPS in, and i would have to replace the fuse, it would also do it everytime i started the car if the cig lighter was in the socket also. Is your cig lighter in the socket? Replacing it is easy, from autozone you buy a generic one for like 4$ and then you just cut the stock harness and solder or buy connectors and hook up the wires.

That might not be your problem though, its just my best guess.

Re: Keep blowing fuse

Hey. Just to let you know Saber you were dead on. I put in another fuse and pulled out the cigarrette lighter. When I put it back in ...pop there went the fuse. Once I figured that out, I remembered that the door locks were on the same circuit. Drivers side didnt work but the passenger side did. I decided to pull the drivers switch and someone had cut the wires. I wired them back and taped them up. Low and behold it worked. My guess is the p.o must have thought the short was coming from the door switch. All is good now but I want to fix the cig lighter.
