Have a good question. :D

Okay i have a 1995 camaro that i am swapping a 3rd gen motor in. 305 TPI. okay the 3rd gens used an ecm and the 4th gens used a pcm. the problem i am seeing i am going to run a problem is. when i put the 305 in replace of the v6 i will need to use the ecm and wiring harness. Now the problem. Since of course the v6 transmission won't be in use i will also be using a transmission that is also 3rd gen. DO i need the PCM still to operate the transmission??? or will the ecm that is just for the engine be ok and not worry about the pcm? Any help out there will be much appreciated. Yes please don't tell me why don't i put a ls1 motor or something like that its the only engine i have since the v6 threw a rod and i have a spare 305 sitting in a firebird thats a 90 just going to swap out alot of work i might take pictures and show how to do it when done just answer the one question of the ecm and pcm problem. THank you and please any info is much appreciated set aside ur opinion of using a ls1.

Re: Have a good question. :D

If you are putting in a full 305 TPI engine-transmission combo, use the TPI ECM and you'll be fine.
