There are Many possible issues, so the first thing to find out is when is the last time you had a complete top line tune-up, then to ask why you think it might be ground related. Have you changed anything lately? Is this an issue that's been slow to show up and is proggressingly getting worse or is it more of a sudden problem. Are you getting any thrown ECM codes? and have you checked for stored codes? Have you checked to see the exact battery voltage with a DVM?
You probably have an inkling that these early GM computerized/sensored cars can be rather tempermental when chasing down issues, so give us a bit more info and background. Have you verified that it's not a fuel issue and not a spark issue or not?
Good Luck, Nitro-Nicky

Re: possible ground problem, im not sure
yea its not the fuel or the spark because when the car is cold, the car will start up first turn. but when you run it, turn off the car and then try to restart it, it wont. my brothers theory is that the ground is not fully on, causing some arcing to go around heating up and becoming faulty. hence why car wont restart. idk. everything looked good just didnt wnat to start one day. car used to diesel baddly. fixed that but it has its hiccups. i just went to work and then idk what happend but then car wouldnt start.
forgot to mention, the rotor, distributor cap, plugs and starter have all been replaced but been a good month since any one of those has been redone. could the coil have gone up? im still using the coil that was in the first cap.

Does it mean that you turn the key and the starter engages and turns the engine but the engine doesn't start? Does it mean that you turn the key and the starter doesn't engage?

One more question: carbureted, throttle body (TBI) or port injection (TPI)?

the car will turn but wont start, and its carbureted. that has been a pain in the *** too but is not stopping car from running
update**
car starts and runs, yay but not really. the car is running REALLY rough and isnt running the way it was before. it almost feels like the car its not running on all cylinders now. could there still be an electrical issue or could taht be a fuel/air mixture.
