turn signal relay

My 86 iroc has hazards, but no turn signals. I have replaced the entire column (different problem) from a known good car. I searched the board and found the possible problem is the turn signal relay.
Can someone point me in the right direction? Where is it?
Thank you.

Re: turn signal relay

Under the dash, left side of the steering column, a small clip holding the flasher (not relay) to the fuse box.
The convenience center to the right side of the steering column holds the hazard flasher but since you said that your hazards work, I wouldn't touch that.

Do your back-up lights work? If not, you could have a blown TURN-B/U fuse.
If yes, the problem is further downstream (flasher, wiring or switch).

I'd check both sides of the flasher with a test light. With the key on, both sides should light up your test light.

Since you already have the dash access panels off, you can put a test light on the purple wire on the big flat connector for the multifunction switch (picture here: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/mkport...-connector.jpg ). This purple wire should have 12V on it with the key on. If it doesn't, the problem is a broken wire between the flasher and the switch.

Hope this helps.

Re: turn signal relay

thanks for your help.
I replaced the hazzard flasher, as I assumed that it also worked the turn signals; but I never replaced the turn signal flasher. Im sure that is it, and thanks for the very detailed and fast reply.
