Does VSS need ECM to make Speedo & Cruise Control Work?
Does VSS need ECM to make Speedo & Cruise Control Work?
Does anyone know if my speedometer and cruise control will work if I removed the ECM? I swapped the TBI for a carbureted engine. There is a brown wire that runs from the VSS to the ECM. Why does the ECM need this wire? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, they will work fine on a TBI vehicle because they are not routed through the ECM (only 90-92 TPI ECM did that).
The only problem you might have after removing the ECM is the fuel prime pulse that you'll now be lacking. But if your carb bowls hold enough fuel, you should be fine without the prime.
