c2 connector temp gauge wiring question

my temp gauge has not worked since i got my car 7 years ago and im tired of being paranoid about it overheating and i dont wanna install an aftermarket, before i pulled my lt1 out of the donor car the temp gauge worked in that car so i know temp sender is good so i pulled my gauge cluster out to check out the wiring and i found a dark green wire and a dark green w/white strip wire connected to pin 7 on c2 connector that i could tell someone jimmy rigged into the connector and they pulled right out of the connector,so i went on a search for a c2 pinout to check the wiring and the pinout i found says pin 7 on the c2 connector is a dark green wire,it says nothing about a dark green w/white stripe,so my question is should i only connect the dark green wire?,or does the dark green w/white stripe go to the pcm to tell it when to turn the fans on?any insight would be appreciated, thanks in advance, heres the pinout i found:
