Installing aftermarket speedometer????

So i have a 87 firebird with the cable driven speedo..I changed my rear end gears a long time ago and it made it way off so it was always burried and kept breaking cables so i finally gave up on it. Now im putting the car back on the road for the summer and want to correct this problem. Id like to buy an electric aftermarket (auto meter ect.) into the factory gauge hole. I have the base model with only the speedo and fuel gauges , all others are added by me and are aftermarket.

I wanted to know if anybody has ever done this and is there a speedo anybody knows of that will hook onto my 700R4 with some tunibility so i can get it dead on without a cable??

Thanks and this is my first post.. I usually lurk and find my answers but i couldnt find an answer to this one...

Look on Summits site at the auto meter 4488 speedo(thats the first one I saw) there is a pdf instuction sheet that goes through calibration looks like you need an adaptor #5292 that also has a pdf with instuctions it runs off the trans and you hook the speedo to the wires hope this helps I have not installed one yet but it is on the list and this route seems easy
