1991 RS, non-cc carbed 350 (with a return line pressure regulator) installed by the previous owner.
In the process of fishing around to fix a bad ignition connection I started tracing the wire for my fuel pump. I started at "add a fuse" http://www.f150online.com/galleries/...2028-51119.jpg
in the fuse box then went to the the 10amp flip switch in the center console ash tray. This traced to the plastic cover along the base of the driver's side door. Halfway through that was a WIRE NUT connecting a piece of (I kid you not) light blue 20 or 22 gauge wire. After pulling out the rear seats I found the place where the fuel pump power wire comes in (gray and purple?). The purple wire had been cut, and then spliced back together. The light blue wire went to the side of the gray wire that goes to the fuel pump. The other side of the gray wire is just sitting there.
Nowhere in that did I find a relay.
If it matters, VATS is still hooked up (or at least the car won't start when I pull the VATS fuse).
1) The gray and purple wires are in a black plastic conduit and head towards the front of the car. Where do these come out so that I don't have to remove my entire interior following them?
2) How should this have been hooked up, and what do I need to do to get it back to stock?
3) I read in another post here on ThirdGen that I do not need the fuel pump relay as carbs don't require priming and the OPSU (above the oil filter?) will power the pump. I was under the impression that this is just a fail safe in case the relay dies, and is not intended to always power it. Also, since flipping the switch in the ash tray turns the pump on with the key out, I suspect it is drawing its power strait from the battery (I still need to trace that end).

 

Ok, update, some answers (in post #2), and another question (in post #3).
1) After more searching around here I went back and found the black wire (ground). I also soldered the snip in the purple wire (fuel level). The thing that had me stumped was why I had a gray wire rather than a tan/striped one. Turns out it's the wrong year and I had managed to find only posts by people with older camaros in my searches.
2) Lifting more carpet up, these go into the bigger conduit at the base of the door, and come out in front of the door to the left of the driver's feet in a big bundle. They eventually go through the firewall (with sadly another same colored grey wire) to the relays. Unlike mine they *should* be right in front of the windshield. There is one for the fuel pump (5 wires) and one for the ?fans? (4 wires). A useful wiring diagram can be found here:http://www.austinthirdgen.org/mkport...ta_sensors.jpg
In my case, the orange power wire was disconnected, so off to find the other end of that, which is sitting (cut off) by the battery.

 

New questions.
1)There are <edit: three> wires coming out of the same conduit as the orange one, and of course two are cut off. What are these for? One is red, one orange (fuel pump relay), one black, and one black with a red line.
2)The diagram (see above) lists a 20 amp fuse. I really hate fusible links, but at the same time, since (IN LINE FUSE NO 2) is now missing, I need to put something there. Do you think something like this:http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2102782
would be acceptable wiring practice?
