Installed 3 way lighted switches.
Installed 3 way lighted switches.
Hello!
I have a pic and a question to go with.
I installed a lighted switch for my back-up lights (This Quicksilver shifter does not have the provision for backup micro-switch), and it works great, lights up real nice.
I installed the same type of lighted switch, a 3 way, between the Purple and Yellow wires for the Nuetral Safety. Purple wire on the Supply Volts terminal, Yellow wire on the On. Acc terminal and a ground wire. ---- Why is that when the switch is on that it lights up when I turn the ignition, but when switched off, if try to crank the car the ground sparks and heats up? It killed the switch.

Thanks everyone, I know its probably because of the way the power flows through but just looking for an explanation, because I'm missing it.

Re: Installed 3 way lighted switches.
What is the current/amp rating for the switch? I don't see an immediate problem with your wiring but it is very possible that the switch is rated much lower than what you're putting through it which would in turn destroy the internals rather quickly, causing any kind of strange behavior.
I cannot recall the current draw for the stating circuit but it is somewhere in the 50A area.
