Dakota Digital & VSS & 1227749 ECM

I have finally got around to running the VSS to the ECM so my computer knows how fast the car is going.. Need a little advise..

On the 7730 and the 7749 ecm It lists 4 wires to get this accomplished

B9 Purple Wire to VSS
B10 Yellow wire to VSS
B11 Gray wire to Instrument Panel
B11 Red wire to Cruise Control

I used to run the VSS directly to the dash. Now I am going to do it the right way as I just installed the Dakota Digital Dash..

So the Purple wire and Yellow from the ECM go directly to the VSS on the Transmission 700r4..

B11 says to the I/P (Instrument Panel) Since I am running a Dakota Dital would that go to the Speed or VSS slot???

And I need to get a schematic where to tie into the cruise control and which wire from the B11 on the ecm

Anyone have any insite??

Anything but TBI

TBI and older ECM VSS distribution

Does your digital dash use 4,000 pulse per mile signal or 40 pulse per revolution signal? Anything but 4,000PPM will require either a converter box or a buffer box to be spliced between the ECM and cluster

This system can accept 4000 ppm – 128000 ppm speed signals. The sensor that Dakota Digital provides is an 8000 ppm type.

So you need a dakota converter between your VSS and ECM. 730 wants 4,000 PPM

If you want to change it refer to the PROM board

If you haven't gotten an answer for your question yet I just finished mine.

I started with the Dakota Converter and their sensor, the sensor wires are labeled where to go on the unit as well as the power and ground wires. The only wires that I was not sure about was the output part for the VSS buffer. I used the yellow wire for the output to go to the VSS buffer, I put the yellow wire in the OUT3 I think, I'll double check in a couple minutes. All the DIP switches on the converter are off for the time being, I shouldn't need it since the VSS needs a 4K AC ppm and that is what the OUT3 is.

I'll test drive it here shortly to see if it is working correctly...hopefully without getting a ticket since I have no exhuast, all I have is the headers.
