I have a 85 pont t/a and it has the older 85 mph and 6g tach i was wondering if there is any way of putting the newer gage cluster for like a 88 to 92 gage cluster in it?

 

All 90-92 gauge clusters use an electronic speedometer, so the speedo wouldn't work in your mechanical speedo car.

 

IIRC, 'Birds went electronic in 86, the Camaro not until 90. Since the electronic versions either run through the ECM (TPI) or VSS buffer (TBI), unlike the cable-driven versions, I'd assume that retro-fitting would be somewhat difficult. A search might provide more info.

Thanks lots i want to put a newer one in but afraid to buy a gage cluster and it not work properly but i will try to see what i can do if i got something to work i will have to post it!
