Large and Small Distributor Wiring

Large and Small Distributor Wiring
Hi, I have an 88 tpi 350
I bought a wiring harness about 5 years ago (just installing it now
) When I went to hook it all up I found that the harness was set up for a large distributor.
So here is my question(s)
What is the difference between the large and small distributor? Can I just make an adapter harness to go from the large harness plug to my small distributor? If so what would Ibe looking for as far as what wire goes to what?
I have the orig. harness but I am wondering if it makes sense to just get the large distributor.
Any advise is appreciated.
