TPI harness question
I'm looking to replace the engine harness in my '90 Formula with a new one and according to my local dealer the harness for a TPI Firebird with automatic is discontinued but the harness for the manual cars is still available. Aside from having to add the TCC lockup connection what else is different between the two harnesses? I did confirm that they are under different part numbers before I posted to be sure they weren't interchangeable. I was thinking too that if all I needed to do was add the TCC wiring that I'd go that route but want to be sure first. Thanks in advance.

Re: TPI harness question
I've noticed that some of the TPI harnesses are available from Painless, if you weren't already aware. No experience with them yet myself.

Re: TPI harness question
From what I've been able to find out about the Painless harnesses they are stand alone and don't incorporate all the hookups the OE harness does.

Re: TPI harness question
Correct, although you can still source some C100 connectors and build that part new as well
To the OP, a manual car will have the rev lights ran through the C100 which the auto wont use. A4 cars have the TCC wire ran through the C100 which the manual cars dont have. Youll have to rewire some of the new harness either way. Why not get a good used harness or stand alone unit and cut up a V6/TBI harness to make the new thing?

Re: TPI harness question
Most good used harnesses I've been able to find are almost the same price as a new one. These guys know what they have and are proud of it. I'm planning to contact Angel at TPIParts.com and find out in detail what exactly needs to be changed before I invest in a manual harness. I'd also like to have a new one as the current harness used in the TPi conversion was used and is currently 18 years old, plus I'm planning to reroute and hide much of the wiring so I'd like to not have to deal with more cooked wiring and brittle and/or broken connectors.

Re: TPI harness question
Where are you finding a speed density harness for $150? The ones I've been able to find that are suitable to me have all been around $200 or more.
