help finding out speedo signal
i had a 86-90 ish "large hole" electic sensor from a firebird/caprice etc... worked perfect wired directly to my 97 lt1 instrument cluster.
i have switched transmissions and am forced to go to a mechanical drive.
found several adapters to convert back to an electric signal.
my question is, what signal does the cluster need, or what was the rating on my old speedo sensor?
all the adapters i find are 8 or 16 "pulse per rev"
i remember from my dash swap searching that the speedo was 4000ppm. im just confused.

Need 4 Speed-O-Meter
Your original sensor was geared to output 4,000 PPMi.
That’s what the BUFFER needs to see.
The BUFFER has up to 3 outputs depending on configuration.
One is 4,000 PPMi for the speedometer.
Another is 2,000 PPMi for the CRUISE.
The other is 2,000 PPMi for the ECM.
Because the adapters you found are 8 or 16 PPR, you need to gear them so they will render 4,000 PPMi.

If People Drove Any Slower They’d Be Going Backwards
When you see fog lights on in good weather beware. Low performance driver ahead. Right grandma?
How bout those nervous nellies too scared to drive without headlights on in the daytime or if there is a little rain!
