85 Camaro MAF Sensor Q?
85 Camaro MAF Sensor Q?
Hi, Newbie here. Had a couple Vetts a few years ago and just got the itch for an old Camaro. Just picked up an 85 IROC for $1K and think I have a 215 horse money vacuum - just like the Vetts. Getting a MAF error on the ECM and wonder about testing this thing. Anybody know how? Its just a hot wire that changes resistance - can't be rocket science. Any of these available used and what years will bolt in?
Thanks

It IS rocket once you modify it to go like a rocket.
A clean, rebuilt & tested one is only $67 so why bolt on an unknown?

If People Drove Any Slower They’d Be Going Backwards
When you see fog or “running” lights on in good weather beware. Low performance driver ahead.
How bout those nitwits too scared to drive without headlights in the daytime
and the nitwits that need headlights for a little rain

Re: 85 Camaro MAF Sensor Q?
Any 85-89 MAF will work. The 85 is a year-specific item that included that ridiculously expensive burnoff module that was prone to failure. The 86+ style MAF got rid of the burnoff module. I've run a number of 86+ MAFs in my 85 and they worked well.

Hi Jim
I had a reply from NINA saying rebuilts are available for $67. Sounds good to me especially if an 86 will work straight up in my car. Is the plug the same or will I need to rewire? Who does these rebuilds - I'm not finding much just surfing Camaro parts sites. Thanks again for the info.

Not necessarily "sir" some states by law require lights on during inclement weather.
So, respect others, it does a body good.
