aftermarket guages.
I have a 87 trans am. only thing that works on the panel is the tach... Im thinking about replacing the guages but cant decide what to do. I can mount them in the places the stock guages are, a little harder but neater. Or i can mount them around. Such as two guages on the pillar (fuel level and volts), mount the oil pressure and water temp where hvac goes, and electric speedo and tach on the top of dash somewhere. whats better?

Mounting aftermarket gauges in the factory location is the way to go. I did this and love how it looks and having gauges that work.

Re: aftermarket guages.
For the panel supplies & gauges it was about $500, and half of that was just for the speedo. That's without the pillar gauges (a/f ratio & boost) and minus the fuel pressure gauge that most people wouldn't use. I bought most of the gauges brand new off eBay or through craigslist to lower the costs a bit. This is one of the best mods you can do for the interior.
