Need Help Eliminating the VATS on my 91RS Camaro

I own three third generation firebird/camaros. I am really having problems with my 91 RS Camaro. It is totally rebuilt and turn key ready but that is the problem. the dealership wants me to trailer the car to them just to run their computer on it to tell me what key I need. Very frustrating!! So my question for all of my 3rd gen motor heads is I don't need the VATS on my car so how do I completely eliminate it? Tried working with Radio Shack on resistors, Seaview Chevrolet told me there are 16 different keys that can go to my car but I am unable to trailer it there at this time. Any input to help me fire this sweet ride up will be greatly appreciated!

The dealer will end up charging you a couple hundred dollars to do what they're saying they need to do. But for a '91, they should be able to look-up your car and findout its key code. So if they claim they can't, or won't, then I'd suggest checking with another GM dealer before you do anything. Otherwise, you can do it yourself.

And in the following linked-thread, in my post, #6, there's a link to the GM Vats Pack resistors that you'll need for doing it yourself.

Thank you for reply, did not know there was a VATS pack available for purchase. Have already tried resistors from Radio Shack, could not come up with the right resistor values that were needed. Thank you again for the information, this should do it!

When testing the resistors, I read there is a timer set when it gets the wrong value, so wait at least 5 minutes between tests - maybe that's why you had issue when trying the RS resistors.
